Long Time Community Organizer and Activist is qualified and ready to serve

Erle Pierce, a long time Concord area organizer and activist has decided to seek a seat on the Concord City Council, representing Ward 2.

Pierce, who’s community activity resume includes leadership roles at area institutions such as: The Greater Concord Chamber Board of Directors; The Capitol Center for the Arts Board of Trustees; The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center Commission; and various other boards and commissions headquartered in Concord, hopes to bring his organizational and collaborative skills to the City Council.

“I believe I have the qualifications, business and board experience to be a valued member of the Concord City Council. I currently serve on Concord’s Planning board and have gained great insight into how well this City is run and governed”.

Pierce went on to add: “That said, there is always room for improvement. Many streets and roads in Ward 2 need maintenance and paving, especially Bog Road, from Fisherville to Riverhill!

Pierce also says his business experience will help him bring even more fiscal responsibility to the City, especially when it comes to employees. “This City employees some 475 full time equivalent employees who work in many different departments and in many cases those departments do their jobs as if they were in “silos”. I would like to work with our Council and City Manager to identify those “silos” and maybe add some windows and doors to facilitate more effective government.”
