Our Star Party takes place from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, August 11. The Perseid meteor shower is the most prominent one of the summer. Visitors will learn about Perseus and where it lies in the night sky. Discovery Center educators will explain the phenomenon of meteor showers in general and the Perseids in particular. Real meteorites will be available to look at and to touch! For your comfort, we suggest that you bring lawn chairs, blankets, flashlight, bug repellent, and dress in layers for variable temperature outdoor viewing.

8-10 p.m. – Self-guided tour of exhibits and family activities
8:30 p.m. – Theater presentation
9:00 p.m. – Pizza
10:00 p.m. – Head outside for naked eye viewing of meteor shower and enjoy telescope viewing of other celestial delights with Discovery Center educators!
