Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and Auxiliary are sponsoring the following program: The Old Country Fiddler; Ross Taggart, Traveling Entertainer. The program will be presented on Friday April 20, at 7PM at the New Hampshire Historical Society.
Adam Boyce plays Mr. Taggart at the end of his career, c. 1936, sharing recollections on his life and career, with some live fiddling and humorous sketches interspersed in this living history program. Mr. Taggart was a fiddler, piano player, humorist, singer, and ventriloquist. He made at least 25 recordings with the Victor, Edison and Columbia companies and appeared in a talking movie picture six years before Al Jolson starred in the “The Jazz Singer.”
The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
Funding is provided in part by a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
