Fabian Named Concord's New Library Director

New director comes from Connecticut; is president of the state's Libraries Online Consortium.

City Manager Thomas J. Aspell, Jr. has appointed Todd Fabian as Concord’s new Library Director.

Fabian was selected from approximately 40 applicants after an extensive search and a rigorous interview process involving three panels consisting of Library Trustees, members of the Concord Public Library Foundation, and City Department Heads.

Since 2010, Fabian has served as the Library Director at the Woodbridge Town Library in Woodbridge, CT. Prior to that, from 2007 to 2010, he served as the Library Director at the Levi E. Coe Library in Middlefield, CT; and from 2002-2007 he was the Library Director at the ELANCO Library in New Holland, PA.

Fabian is the President ex officio of the Libraries Online Consortium, which makes up 28 libraries across Connecticut. He is also a member of the Connecticut Library Association, the New England Library Association, and the American Library Association.

Fabian has a Master’s degree in Education from Millserville (PA) University, and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Clarion (PA) University.

Identifying a few of the primary reasons for hiring Todd Fabian as Library Director, Aspell stated, “Mr. Fabian has demonstrated a strong commitment to the libraries he has directed and to the communities which he has served. He possesses the rare set of experience, collaborative leadership and vision necessary to guide the Concord Public Library successfully through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Mr. Fabian’s work experience includes a fine mix of lead positions in both the public and private sector. Mr. Fabian possesses the high level of core values and integrity necessary to represent the City of Concord. Concord is most fortunate to have such a committed professional as Todd Fabian as its new Library Director.”

Fabian will begin his tenure as Library Director on September 29, 2014. His starting annual salary will be $84,510.
