Fatal Truck Crash Reported On Route 4 In Epsom

Dover Road near Old Turnpike Road was closed for nearly three hours during the investigation of a fatal 2-vehicle crash on Monday.

EPSOM, NH — Epsom police and EMTs as well as Concord firefighters were sent to a fatal crash on Route 4 in Epsom on Monday.

Around 3:30 p.m., first responders were sent to a report of a head-on crash. Dispatch received a second call reporting one person was ejected from the vehicle while another was entrapped.

A few minutes later, fire command reported two vehicles, with heavy damage, and Route 4 was completely shut down. Command asked dispatch who was coming to the crash scene. After being told another engine was being sent, command said, “I need Engine 2 with the Jaws (of life) as soon as possible. One code gray.”

Around 3:45 p.m., command also requested another paramedic to the crash and Concord EMTs and firefighters were also sent to the accident for mutual aid.

Pittsfield firefighters also went to Epsom to offer mutual aid while Route 4 was shut down.

At a little past 4 p.m., the entrapped person was removed from the vehicle and placed in an ambulance to be taken to Concord Hospital.

Later, the state’s medical examiner was called to the crash scene.

The roadway was reopened around 6 p.m.
