Cops are investigating an early morning crash where a vehicle went over a guardrail, down an embankment on Route 3 near Allenstown Thursday.
HOOKSETT, NH — Hooksett police are investigating a fiery crash that killed at least one person on Thursday on Route 3 near Allenstown.
Around 1:45 a.m., capital region dispatch received a call about a fire in the woods near Granite Street in Allenstown, not far from the police station. About five minutes later, dispatch received another call about a vehicle fire in Hooksett on Route 3, just before the Allenstown town line, with an occupant possibly still inside, and sent Hooksett fire and rescue teams.
Allenstown police arrived at the scene and reported to fire dispatch that the original call for a fire in the woods was actually a vehicle fire just over the line into Hooksett. Allenstown firefighters were re-toned to assist.

Hooksett firefighters arrived and confirmed a vehicle had driven over a guardrail and down an embankment. The vehicle, the fire commander said, was "fully involved."
Firefighters stretched a line from the tanker to get water into the area to put out the fire. Allenstown firefighters arrived not long after. Firefighters requested the chief’s tone and a recall for both stations for coverage.

Allenstown firefighters cleared at 3 a.m., while Hooksett firefighters mostly cleared a few minutes later. One team stayed until the medical examiner could arrive.
As of 7:30 a.m., the roadway is still shut down. Aaron Roy, a dispatcher in Hooksett, said Hooksett Road was closed from Post Road to the Allenstown line. The detour runs from Pleasant Street in Hooksett to the intersection of Route 3 and Granite Street in Allenstown.
Just after 10:30 a.m., the road reopened, according to Jay Wilson of the Hooksett Police Department.
