Food Left Out At Concord Middle School Causes ‘Unexpected Smell’
Students, educators, and administrators encountered a foul odor at the Rundlett Middle School on Monday.

CONCORD, NH — Food left out in the basement area of the Rundlett Middle School in Concord caused a strange, foul odor at the school on Monday.
Administrators informed parents about the smell in an email after discovering the odor first thing in the morning before students arrived.
“We contacted our custodial and maintenance staff,” an email said. “We looked into several possible causes. Upon further investigation, we were able to determine that there was a food product that had been accidentally left out in the storage area of our basement.”

The food was disposed of and educators were asked to open windows in an effort to clear the smell away. By around 9:20 a.m., everything was resolved.
“At this point, the smell has greatly reduced and we expect that it will be gone altogether later today,” the notice stated. “At no time was there ever any danger to students or staff. Not quite what we expected on a Monday morning.”
