Elderly Man Injured After Mustang Crashes On I-393 In Concord: Watch

Update: State troopers, Concord fire and rescue teams, police were sent to a crash at Exit 2 on the eastbound side of the highway Wednesday.

CONCORD, NH — A crash on the east side of Interstate 393 at Exit 2 on Wednesday kept the highway closed for around two and a half hours.

Concord fire and rescue teams, state troopers, and Concord police were sent to a crash just before 7 p.m. Capital Area Mutual Aid Fire Compact began receiving calls about a possible fatal crash on the highway involving multiple vehicles. As teams and state police were heading to the scene, another person said the driver of one of the vehicles was still alive but entrapped.

Arriving firefighters warned others, when approaching the crash scene, of large amount of debris in the high-speed lane while traffic was rerouted off Exit 2.

Around 7:15 p.m., the fire battalion commander told dispatch it was a single-vehicle crash, a Ford Mustang with what appeared to be an out-of-state handicapped plate, with two patients, Michel Vaillant, 80, of Concord, and a juvenile passenger.

Vaillant was taken to Concord Hospital later.

Around 7:30 p.m., Concord police were also requested to assist after dispatchers began receiving calls about a road rage incident between the driver of a Jeep and the driver of another vehicle who were stuck in stand-still traffic. The caller claimed one vehicle kept bumping into another vehicle and the drivers got out of their vehicles and began to exchange words.

It is unknown at post time if there was any investigation into the road rage claim.

Amber Lagace, the public information officer for state police, said the vehicle had extensive damage and appeared to have struck the Jersey barrier multiple times before stopping.

Investigators before the crash was caused due to a medical emergency. Alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be factors.
