Former Ward 5 Concord City Councilor Honored For Service
Rob Werner, first elected after a special election in 2007, was recognized for his 14 years on the council, extensive committee involvement.

CONCORD, NH — A former Ward 5 Concord city councilor was recognized on Monday for nearly 14 years of service on the board before stepping down last year.
Mayor Jim Bouley read a proclamation for Rob Werner, who was first elected in 2007, after the death of long-time City Councilor and environmentalist, Marjory Swope.
Bouley said Werner devoted a lot of time encouraging democratic involvement and participation by making sure “all voices were heard and treated with respect and courtesy.” He commended him for his work on energy and environmental initiatives. Werner, Bouley said, served on more than 15 boards and committees during his time on the council.

Werner thanked the mayor and councilors, saying it was humbling. All of his years of service, working with the members was a real honor, he said. Werner will be staying involved by serving on the city’s energy advisory committee.
“(So) I’m happy I’m still involved in city operations,” he said.

Werner said, while he appreciated the accolades, the city “was a very special place because of all the commitment that all of you make and the commitment that our citizens make.” Nothing truly great or lasting can be made without teamwork, he added. Werner hoped the accomplishments of the city and future endeavors, too, would be successful due to that teamwork.
When asked if he would be staying for the rest of the meeting, Werner said he would not. Instead, he said, he would go home and watch the meeting while eating pizza and drinking beer.
Werner chose not to run in 2021. Stacey Brown was elected for the open seat.
