Franklin Woman Faces Felony Arson Charge

A woman who was arrested last month in Concord on assault charges was arrested for arson in Franklin last night for allegedly setting her former apartment building on fire, according to press reports.
Amber Cowan, 28, of Franklin, was arrested on Sept. 16, 2015, and charged with felony arson.

According to WMUR-TV, Cowan was served with an eviction notice earlier this week. Firefighters from around the region, including Concord, were sent to assist or cover Franklin’s fire stations with mutual aid while teams worked to put the fire out.
The state fire marshal’s office reported that she is being held on $250,000 cash bail and was arraigned this morning.

On Aug. 9, she was arrested and charged with simple assault and domestic violence-simple assault for allegedly punching her soon-to-be ex-husband in Keach Park in front of their three kids and her mother, according to police.
