Global Forum to Feature Former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan

Manchester, NH – The World Affairs Council of New Hampshire will host its annual Global Forum on May 14, 2026, welcoming Jake Sullivan, former U.S. National Security Advisor, for a timely and wide-ranging conversation on America’s role in an increasingly complex world.

Held at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics, this signature event brings together business leaders, policymakers, students, and engaged citizens for the state’s largest gathering focused on global affairs.

In a moderated discussion titled “Shaping America’s Role in a Changing World,” Sullivan will draw on his experience at the highest levels of U.S. foreign policy to explore the defining challenges of our time—from great-power competition and global security to economic uncertainty and diplomacy in a rapidly shifting landscape.

“The world is changing rapidly, and the decisions being made today will shape our future for decades,” said WACNH Executive Director, Tim Horgan. “The Global Forum creates a space for informed, civil dialogue on the issues that matter most—not just globally, but here in New Hampshire.”

At the Global Forum, global issues become local. Attendees will gain insight into how international developments impact New Hampshire’s economy, communities, and role in the world, while engaging with a diverse network of leaders and citizens committed to thoughtful, nonpartisan discussion.

Proceeds from the event support WACNH’s mission to expand access to global education, dialogue, and community programming across the state.

About the Speaker

Jake Sullivan is the Kissinger Professor of the Practice of Statecraft and World Order at Harvard Kennedy School and a Senior Fellow at the Carsey School of Public Policy at the University of New Hampshire.

He served as the 28th Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs from 2021 to 2025. Previously, he held senior roles in the Obama Administration, including National Security Advisor to then-Vice President Biden, Director of Policy Planning at the U.S. Department of State, and Deputy Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Sullivan has also held academic and policy positions at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Dartmouth College, Yale Law School, and the University of New Hampshire. He holds degrees from Yale, Oxford (as a Rhodes Scholar), and Yale Law School, and clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. He resides in New Hampshire with his wife, Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander.
