MOULTONBOROUGH, NH — Friends of a New Hampshire woman seriously injured in a snowmobile crash on Saturday are raising money to support her in her recovery and offset future medical bills.

Around 3 p.m., Carol Woods, 65, of Moultonborough, descended the Chimney Trail in Freedom when she inadvertently hit the throttle of the machine and collided with a tree. The collision, according to New Hampshire Fish & Game, resulted in serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Woods, an experienced rider who had been on this trail several times before, was able to call 911 for assistance. Freedom firefighters reached her location, stabilized her injuries, and took her off the trail via a rescue sled. An ambulance transported her to Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was taken to Brigham & Women’s Hospital later.

Maddie Burns started a GoFundMe fundraiser, stating Woods sustained five broken ribs, a femur that was broken in five places, and an arm broken in two places. Her lung was also punctured and she had multiple contusions.

“She has a long road of recovery ahead of her,” she said, “and I'm hoping this will help to ease the financial stress that will come with it for her and her family.”
