Man With Gun Taken Into Custody In Bicentennial Square

Breaking: Odd Fellows Lane building evacuated after a reportedly distraught man with a gun incident in Downtown Concord this afternoon.

CONCORD, NH — Concord Police were sent to Bicentennial Square this afternoon for a report of a distraught man possibly armed with a handgun in a local office building on Sept. 12, 2017. The incident was first reported after 2 p.m. inside 9 Odd Fellows Lane, the same building that houses Families in Transition. Officers and parking enforcement closed off access to the area as other officers were seen stationed in parts of the Square with rifles pointed at the building.

After about a 45-minute standoff, one man was taken into custody.

"The party was detained and then transported to a medical facility for assistance," Det. Sgt. Robert Buelte of the Concord Police Department noted in a press statement. "No one was injured during the incident."


Police cleared the scene and re-opened Warren and Pleasant streets at 3:15 p.m.
