The next Merrimack County Attorney, as the County’s chief criminal prosecutor, will be responsible for helping keep our neighborhoods safe, supporting strong law enforcement, and building a justice system worthy of public trust.

The County Attorney must also be a good steward of taxpayer dollars and be able to manage a team of experienced attorneys, investigators, victim-witness advocates, and support staff.

That requires a skilled prosecutor, proven leader, and experienced administrator. And we need someone in that role with the experience of doing those very things while being collaborative, proactive, level-headed, and trustworthy.

I am Meg Hagaman, and I am running to be your next Merrimack County Attorney because I believe I fit the bill.

My family and I live in Bow, we’ve always been community minded and public service driven, and this campaign has been a team effort from the beginning – engaging residents all over the county in parades, events, door knocking, and more.

I have worked in the trenches with heavy caseloads and delivered results, partnered with law enforcement on complex investigations and trials like sexual assaults and murders, and met victims where they are to help bring justice in their cases. I have also managed teams of all sizes — from a focused task force to a division of more than 60 as the Chief of the Criminal Bureau at the NH Department of Justice managing prosecutions statewide. I’m proven, I’m prepared, and I’ve built strong relationships and trust with partners and leaders across the county and within our criminal justice system.

I am honored to have the public support of many community leaders and organizations, such as the current Merrimack County Attorney, unanimous and bipartisan support of the Merrimack County Commissioners, the NH Police Association, the NH Fraternal Order of Police, the NH Federation of Republican Women, the NH Young Republicans, the SEA/SEIU, and many more. I believe this broad support speaks to the kind of leader I am and will continue to be.

As your next Merrimack County Attorney, I will do what I have always done over the course of my career — be firm, fair, and follow the facts, while building a justice system you can trust. I hope to earn your vote on November 3. You can learn more at Meg-For-Merrimack.com.

As County Attorney, my priorities will include:

  • Public Safety: Protect our neighborhoods by holding offenders accountable – keeping repeat offenders off the streets and prioritizing prosecution of serious crimes and violent criminals.
  • Supporting Victims: Treat victims with respect and provide support through good communication and available services, as well as ensure their interests remain central to cases.
  • Partnering with Law Enforcement: Work collaboratively with our local police department and other public-safety partners to help support sound judgment, thorough investigations, and just results.
  • A Fair and Consistent Justice System: Enforce the law consistently, make decisions based on the facts of each case, and consider reasonable alternative resolutions where appropriate.
  • Ensuring Merrimack County is the Gold Standard: Set clear priorities, lead prosecution teams effectively, provide training and mentorship, engage the public and partners regularly, and use taxpayer resources responsibly.
