Hassan: Work Together to Keep Roads Safe

Governor declares May Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.

May is officially Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, as Gov. Maggie Hassan met with others concerned about riders' rights and motorcycle safety issues at the Statehouse on May 2.

Hassan said now that it was riding season, it was important to take a few moments to discuss the national initiative that encourages people to “share the road,” with cars being aware that there may be motorcycles nearby and motorcyclists to drive safely.

With Hassan for the proclamation were JoAnne Packard of the New Hampshire Motorcycle Rights Organization, former state Sen. Robert Letourneau, R-Derry, state Rep. Sherman Packard, R-Londonderry, Peter Thomson, son of former Gov. Meldrim Thomson, and Katie Daley, a motorcycle riding training coordinator with the Division of Motor Vehicles for the state of New Hampshire.
