Thunderstorms, Torrential Rain To Hit NH

Latest NH weather: dangerous heat followed by severe storms in the middle of the weekend.

A muggy and humid Saturday will soon include serious storms across New Hampshire. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Saturday afternoon and evening.

"Much of the forecast area is in a slight risk for storms to become severe with strong winds and torrential downpours being the primary hazards," NWS said in a statement. "Storms should push south of the area by 8 p.m."

The National Weather Service reported storms could bring the risk of localized flooding and high winds. Showers are expected to start midday on Saturday and continue through the early evening. While winds may only reach up to 5 mph, wind gusts could prove to be a problem, so watch those power lines and trees in your backyard.

NWS warned that urban areas with poor drainage could see some flooding. Things are expected to clear up for Sunday with sun making a comeback and highs reaching 81 degrees, just in time to enjoy a sliver of the weekend outside.
