Hearts for Kindness Hopes to Bring Joy to Others

Brenda Perkins, others hope new organization will help those in need, bring the Concord community together.

What first started out as a simple project to do something nice for others has ballooned into a full-fledged kindness outreach effort.

Hearts for Kindness recently formed as a local nonprofit to help others in need and pass on the simple process of showing kindness to others, in an effort to build community in Concord.

The formation of the idea came from Brenda Perkins, a local real estate agent, who for years had been putting together goodie bags for the homeless at Christmastime. When money got tight for herself, she reached out to others for help and was surprised when others did, in fact, help out. Later, Perkins decided to get community members involved in the effort and with help from First Colebrook Bank, they were able to create the organization and move the idea forward.

“We hope to make this, honestly, a movement of kindness that can be shared with everyone,” according to Perkins.

The organization is planning future fundraisers to raise money and is looking for volunteers and people who need assistance.
