Hopkinton Fire Chief Schaefer Remembered on Friday, Saturday
NH State Fire Marshal's Office announces plans.

Members of the organizing committee working on the arrangements for the funeral for Hopkinton Fire Chief Rick Schaefer would like to remind all citizens not attending the services to avoid certain roadways during the ceremonies both Friday and Saturday. There will be signs and directions to parking areas for those persons attending the services.
All motorists are requested to avoid using the following roadways during the dates and times listed to allow for the funeral services:
Friday, September 7, 2012 from 2pm to 9pm

- Hopkinton: Park Avenue (Route 103) in the area of the Hopkinton Middle School and Hopkinton Fairgrounds.
Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 8am to 12pm
- Henniker: Route 9/202 in the area of Old Concord Road
- Henniker: Old West Hopkinton Road in the area of Saint Theresa’s Church. (Old West Hopkinton Road will be one way on Saturday morning)
- Henniker: Old Concord Road between the Soccer Fields and Route 9/202

The funeral plans for Hopkinton Fire Chief Rick Schaefer have been set as follows:
Wake: Friday, Sept. 7, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Hopkinton Middle High School, 297 Park Avenue, Contoocook.
Uniform of the Day: Class A uniform
Parking for fire service members will be at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds, Yellow Gate, Route 103, Contoocook, NH. A “sea of blue” fire service walk through will commence at 6:30 p.m. All fire service personnel are asked to stage outside the high school at 6 p.m.
Service: Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 158 Old West Hopkinton Road, Henniker.
Uniform of the Day: Class A uniform
Fire Service personnel are to report to the staging area at 0830 hours for instructions.
Parking for all fire service members will be at the soccer fields located on Old Concord Road in Henniker (43.181588oW, 71.811209oN). Busses will be provided to transport all fire service members from the parking area to the staging area located one mile away at Ayer & Goss on Old Concord Road. A procession march, 6/10ths of a mile, will commence from Ayer & Goss across Route 202 to the church. Busses will be provided to return fire service members back to the parking area at the soccer fields.
Honor Guards wishing to attend should contact Honor Guard Coordinator Tim Hebert by calling or texting department name and number attending to 603-235-9104.
Interment to follow at the Contoocook Village Cemetery, Contoocook, NH. Busses will be provided to transport fire service members to either the cemetery or back to the parking lot.
