House In Hopkinton A Total Loss After 2-Alarm Fire: Watch

Concord and capital region firefighters assisted Hopkinton fire and rescue teams on Granite Valley in Contoocook on Wednesday.

HOPKINTON, NH — Firefighters from around the capital region assisted Hopkinton fire and rescue teams in extinguishing a house fire on Granite Valley in Contoocook on Wednesday.

Just before 7:45 p.m., Capital Region Fire Dispatch began receiving calls about a building fire in the area of Granite Valley. Dispatch did not know the exact address of the fire. Along with Hopkinton firefighters, firefighters from Concord Engine 1 and Warner and Webster tankers were also requested.

The first arriving firefighters confirmed the home was engulfed in flames at 18 Granite Valley and immediately called for a second alarm. Engines from Boscawen and Henniker were requested, along with tankers from Bow, Salisbury, and Weare, and Webster EMTs. About 15 minutes later, a re-tone was activated for firefighters to come to the area.

Firefighters spent about two hours fighting the fire and had difficulty containing it due to the lack of fire hydrants and water in the area.

Just before midnight, firefighters were called back to the home due to a report of rekindling flames.

The house appears to be a total loss. According to real estate sites online, the home was built in 2022.
