I-89 Shut Down After Stolen Car Chase, Shot Fired
Updated: New Hampshire State Police, other officers, and fire and rescue teams are in Contoocook on I-89 South.
HOPKINTON, NH — The New Hampshire State Police are at the scene of an alleged stolen car incident in between Exit 7 and Exit 6 on I-89 South in Contoocook. Numerous state troopers are at the scene along with other officers while about two miles worth of vehicles at a standstill, waiting for the situation to clear up. According to scanner chatter, at least one man was injured at the scene where the stolen vehicle — a Toyota with Vermont plates — was stopped, around Mile Marker 11.8.
Concord dispatch reported an infant with a head injury at Mile Marker 12, right near the stopped vehicle, and sent a second ambulance to the scene.
According to scanner chatter, at least one shot was fired at the scene. At least two people were transported from the area by ambulance.

Jeffrey Hastings of Frame of Mind Photography reported that the NHSP Major Crimes Unit has been requested to the scene.

The vehicle was reportedly stolen out of Vermont. Troopers caught up with the vehicle in New London at around 7 p.m. on May 19, 2017, but the vehicle allegedly refused to stop. At least one set of strips were placed on the road in an attempt to stop the vehicle, according to scanner chatter.
Police from Concord and other communities were also called to the scene to assist. A number of officers reported clearing some debris from the highway. Traffic is being re-routed off Exit 7, but extra officers needed to be called to the area due to problems re-routing traffic.
At around 8:45 p.m., state police and Hopkinton Police began a rolling roadblock in order to move the vehicles that were stuck between Exit 7 and Exit 6 off the highway, according to scanner chatter.
