Independent Wins State Rep Seat in Concord

Democrats win or lead in ever other seat in the city.

At first, Dave Luneau tried to gain access to one of the three District 10 seats via write-in in the Sept. 9, Democratic primary. At the same time, he gathered signatures to run as an independent, gained ballot access there, and today, he won.

Luneau, the former chairman of the Hopkinton School District, came in third out of five candidates running with 2,286 votes.

Topping the ticket was the Democratic Majority Leader, state Rep. Mary Jane Wallner, D-Concord, with 2,641 votes. Another Democratic incumbent, state Rep. Mel Myler, D-Concord, received 2,479 votes.

Failing to make the cut was another Democrat, George Langwasser, the vice chairman of the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen, who received 1,822 votes. Republican Barbara Mitera, the only GOPer on the ballot for District 10, rounded out the pack with 1,569 votes.

Gile, Rice re-elected

In the District 27 floterial race, two seats representing Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7, the incumbent Democrats will return.

In her last race, state Rep. Mary Stuart Gile, D-Concord, easily topped the ticket with 5,017 votes while state Rep. Chip Rice, D-Concord, received 4,261. Jim McConaha, a former Democrat who recently enrolled in the Republican Party, received 3,033 votes.

Henle returns to the House

Incumbent State Rep. Paul Henle, D-Concord, who represents District 12/Ward 2, easily beat Republican Kevin Moore, 745 to 502, according to unofficial returns.

Patten re-elected

State Rep. Dick Patten, D-Concord, the District 17/Ward 8 incumbent easily beat Republican Chris Wood for a second time by a vote of 761 to 540.

As reported earlier on Concord NH Patch, State Rep. Steve Shurtleff was re-elected to the District 11 seat.

Also returning to the House are state Rep. June Frazer, D-Concord (District 13/Ward 3); state Rep. Jim MacKay, D-Concord (District 14/Ward 4); state Rep. Christy Dolat Bartlett, D-Concord (District 19/Ward 10) and state Rep. Katherine Rogers, D-Concord (District 28 floterial/Wards 8, 9, 10).

Newcomers going to the House are Democrat Linda B Kenison, who was not challenged for the District 15/Ward 6 seat; former state Rep. Helen Deloge, D-Concord, who returns to the House to represent District 16/Ward 7; and Paul Bradley, a Democrat, who will represent District 19/Ward 9.

State Senate race

According to early returns, Democrat Dan Feltes had a solid lead against Republican Lydia Dube Harman, by about a two-to-one margin.
