Is Healing through prayer obsolete?

The other day I had a chance to catch up with an old friend in British Columbia, Canada, and while we were reminiscing, we remembered a really wonderful healing he experienced many years before. My friend was caught in an airplane crash, and had to run through an enormous fuel fire to reach safety. He lost a shoe in the crash, and that foot was badly burned. When he came to in the hospital, the docs said he would have to lose that foot. He asked them to hold off a day, and he prayed! The next morning, the nurse shouted when she removed the dressings. The burned tissue was falling away, revealing fresh, almost "baby" skin. The recovery was challenging, and the foot was pretty tender for a while, but he recovered completely. The medical team called it a miracle. We rejoiced together in the power of that experience in his whole life since!
This blog will offer that the Christ Truth healed my friend, as he himself would assert. It's even more special to me, because in the years we have known each other, my friend and I have become more focused on the Christ, and more active in our faith and trust in the healing power that the Truth makes available, not in some ancient time, or to a limited number of folks, but right now, here, today, for ALL people!
This Truth which Jesus Christ gave us is very active today, and we see it in many ways. In the humor and love and radical change that the new Pope has shown us. In the spirit of giving and caring that every Christmas brings to the whole world. In the small but powerful acts of unsolicited kindness that we experience out in our communities.
A bit over a century ago, when accomplishing pretty much anything outside raising and supporting a family was near impossible, a woman from Bow NH discovered the present power of Christ Jesus' teachings and understanding (the Bible calls it "the mind of Christ"), and worked diligently for decades to understand this power, get to the bottom of the universal laws that underlay it, and make it available to all. This was Mary Baker Eddy. The movement that formed around her ministry focused, at her constant insistence, on the UNDIVIDED GARMENT of spirituality and its essential, scientific element of healing.  
So the next time you see something or experience something that shows the power of angels, the power of Love, remember that the Christ is right here, right now, unconditionally ready to affirm it's generous grace, for every human need! What kind of a world did Jesus see? Let's see it as he does!
