CONCORD, NH — Reading candidates messages, I wonder whose interests they represent. You would expect the city council and city administration to represent your interests. But all too often your interests and the people representing you aren’t on the same page.

Are current city councilors more concerned about special tax districts, for special projects, receiving special considerations, than looking out for you? And once again this year, real estate assessments show that a larger percentage of property taxes continue to be shifted to residential property owners?

There are a number of contested races for the city council. Think about giving these newcomers an opportunity to represent you. Ask yourself, will they better represent your points of view and concerns?

Let’s be clear about this, there will always be disagreements. No one person will ever represent your views on issues 100% of the time. But wouldn’t you like to be confident that even when your representative votes differently than you would have preferred, that you have confidence they listened to you?

With only a 15% voter turnout for our municipal elections, that means 85% of eligible voters in our city aren't speaking up.

Be sure to vote on November 5th.
