Bragdon said that, before accepting the job, he asked state Senate lawyer Richard Lehmann about any possible conflicts. But Lehmann represents a group of towns suing LGC.
The question that needs to be asked is why did Bragdon go to Lehman for an opinion and not to the legislative ethics committee?
RSA 14 clearly allows for Senators and Representatives to ask the ethics committee for an advisory ruling on potential conflicts. But instead of asking the ethics committee for a ruling Bragdon asks Lehman a lawyer who is not only counsel to the Senate, but also a lawyer representing the 10 towns suing the LGC.
Anyone who can't smell a conflict here was born without a nose.
