Juvenile Arrested On Burglary, Stolen Gun Charges In Concord’s Fosterville Neighborhood

A boy was arrested on numerous charges Thursday after being accused of burglarizing several homes in the city's Fosterville neighborhood.

CONCORD, NH — A juvenile in Concord was arrested Thursday after being accused of burglarizing four homes in the Fosterville area of the city and stealing a handgun in the process.

Around 5:30 a.m., police were sent to Prospect Street, off North State Street, for a report of a suspicious person in the backyard of a home. The caller reported to dispatch the suspect, a white man, who was wearing a black sweatshirt, jeans, and a white hat, was near their sheds, and the doors were open. The man later fled the area toward Foster Street and the railroad tracks behind Boutwell’s Bowling.

The complainant also told dispatch they had security footage of the incident. The caller later stated they thought only tools were taken from one of the sheds. Dispatch said video footage confirmed the suspect got away with an ax and a pair of pliers.

Police began tracking the suspect along the railroad tracks, southbound. Other officers began searching from the south, starting around Interstate 393 and Horseshoe Pond Lane.

While they were searching for the suspect, another resident on Granite Avenue called 911 reporting a man attempting to break into their bulkhead just before 6 a.m. The suspect fled back onto Prospect Street, the caller said.

A few minutes later, police received another break-in call from Perkins Court.

At around 6:15 a.m., officers believed they had found a suspect, a 14-year-old, who later was accused of admitting to burglarizing four homes.

Another officer, also investigating the burglaries, confirmed a gun was stolen from one of the homes, according to scanner chatter. The suspect also rifled through unlocked vehicles and mailboxes, police said. Later, officers in the field reported recovering a handgun while a fourth burglary was confirmed, too.

Deputy Chief John Thomas said Thursday the suspect was charged under juvenile laws with multiple counts of burglary and theft, including a stolen firearm charge. He was arraigned in Concord District Court.

Thomas said the department was “continuing with the investigation” and asked anyone with information to contact police. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Concord Regional Crimeline at 603-226-3100 or online at concordregionalcrimeline.com.
