A Kitchen Fire At Concord’s Alton Woods; A Brush Fire Near Hood Plant
Watch: Firefighters were kept busy Tuesday tackling an apartment fire on the Heights and an acre of land burning in West Concord.
CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams and other firefighters were kept busy on Tuesday with a kitchen fire and a brush fire.
Around 10:15 a.m., the teams were sent to Alton Woods for a fire report with smoke showing from the rear of one of the apartment buildings. Concord police were also sent to assist.
When they arrived, they confirmed a small kitchen fire on the first floor of one of the apartments and requested more firefighters. Along with Concord teams, Bow firefighters were also requested.

Not long after the Alton Woods call, firefighters were sent to North State Street for a report of a brush fire.
Firefighters drove up and down North State Street but could not find the fire. Around 10:45 a.m., dispatch said the fire was behind the Hood plant and the prison retail store.
Firefighters found the fire after seeing smoke coming from the area. Bow firefighters were also requested to assist.

A little before 11 a.m., firefighters reported most of the kitchen fire at Alton Woods had been knocked down.
At around the same time, Engine 5 reported from the gully behind the Hood plant that there was an arching transformer and about an acre of land burned with fire spreading toward the hill.
“We’re going to need forestry, either from another town, with all of Concord tied up at the (Alton Woods) fire,” the commander said.
Boscawen’s forestry unit was requested to assist at the scene.
The Penacook Rescue and Tri-Town Ambulance assisted with mutual aid in the city, as did Boscawen, Hooksett, Manchester, and Pembroke firefighters.
