Late Night, Monday Morning Thunderstorms Expected in NH

Breaking: The National Weather Service issues a hazardous weather outlook alert that could feature heavy rain.

GRAY, ME — The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook alert on Sept. 18, 2016, warning New Hampshire and northern New England of late night and early morning thunderstorms could be on their way to New Hampshire. The alert – issued at 8:13 a.m. and followed up by the NWS about an hour with a Facebook post – warned of “showers and scattered thunderstorms” are likely tonight and Monday with heavy rain possible.

The rain and possibly a thunderstorm could hit New Hampshire as early as 11 p.m. tonight and then continue through – and after – midnight.

“Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall,” according to the detailed forecast.

In the morning, showers and thunderstorms are possible before 5 p.m. and then lighter rain through Tuesday morning.

New Hampshire is in the middle of a drought, so the rain is welcome. The storm earlier today produced a little less than an inch and a half of rain for most of the southern part of the state, according to the NWS.
