Lend Your Voice to 'Fair Concord by the Merrimack'
Help revive 100-year-old song on Aug. 14, 18.

Enjoy singing? Concord 250 and the Nevers’ 2nd Regiment Band invite you to lend your voice to a recently discovered municipal song, “Fair Concord by the Merrimack,” according to a press statement.
There’s one short choral rehearsal on Friday, Aug. 14, 5:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 21 Centre St. Then you’re off to Kiwanis Riverfront Park, behind Everett Arena, to perform during the 7:00 p.m.Nevers’ Band Concert. Be adventurous and join in the revival of this 100-year-old patriotic tune!
“Fair Concord by the Merrimack” will be directed by Mark Pace, choir director of St. Paul’s Church. The St. Paul’s Church Choir originally performed the song in December 1915 at the Municipal Christmas Tree Lighting. Nevers’ Band trombone player and Keene State music composition major, Sam Irvine, is composing a band arrangement of the 100-year-old song to be premiered by the band at the Aug. 14, concert.
The Nevers’ Band Concert on Aug. 14 at Kiwanis Riverfront Park will kick off Concord City Celebration Week’s weekend activities. In addition to the concert, which begins at 7 p.m., there will be Concord Coaches on display (weather permitting), children’s activities, food vendors, and more from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
“Fair Concord by the Merrimack” will be performed again on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 7 p.m. at the Nevers’ Band Statehouse Plaza Concert. Vocalists are welcome to participate in one or both performances. No need to sign up, but please show up! Your audience awaits.
