Local NH Resident Seeks Artistic Funding on National Site “Tiny Vases” campaign is currently on Kickstarter

“Tiny Vases” campaign is currently on Kickstarter
(Exeter, NH, October 23, 2013) Exeter, NH resident Lori Martone began a 21-day crowdfunding campaign, via Kickstarter.com, entitled “Tiny Vases” to fund the expansion of her pottery business. The fundraising project is centered around hand-thrown tiny vases that pledgers receive when making a donation.
Lori explains “I wanted to try Kickstarter as they are incredibly supportive of artists. I need some start-up cash to add new glazes to my studio. Kickstarter promotes my project and then the general population can support it. I chose to feature my two to three inch tall tiny vases as they are the best size for me to work with to test new glazes - plus everyone loves them!. Everyone that donates will receive one to 10 vases, depending on their contribution.” Martone is hoping to reach her $1,500 goal by November 5th.

Launched in 2009, Kickstarter is the world's largest funding platform for creative projects. The site is based around crowdfunding, the idea that a project or venture is supported and funded by a large group of people. Projects range from the very large to quite small with everything from games, films, music, art, design, and technology. The creators set a funding goal and deadline then the general public search projects they want to fund. Potential funders can search for projects by creative category or even narrow it down to a particular state to support their local artists. If a funder finds a project they want to support, they’re able to pledge money to help bring it to life. The site is however, all or nothing funding. This means the goal must be met by the deadline for the creator to receive any of the money. Over the past four years, five million people have pledged $837 million dollars to help fund the more than 50,000 projects through kickstarter.
Lori Martone has been a part-time potter since 1983. Her passion for pottery has grown every year. All pottery that Lori creates are wheel-thrown and functional, like vases, plates, bowls, mugs, lamps, clocks, jars, wine coolers, and even pet bowls. She sells her pottery (including custom orders) at craft fairs and on her website, www.lorimartonepottery.com. The funding provided by the Kickstarter campaign will enable Lori to purchase several new glaze colors, additional pottery tools and more shelves for her kiln.

People enjoy being philanthropic contributing to another's dream, passion, or projects they admire and kickstarter is a perfect platform for that. One can donate as little as $1 up to the maximum pledge amount of the project and receive a comparable reward. This can range from a heartfelt thank you to multiple items of the project.
