Local Radio Stations Win Awards

WKXL, NHPR win a slew of awards, while the Concord Monitor wins press awards.

On Oct. 20, the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters held its annual Granite Mikes Awards at SNHU.

Local radio station , one of just a handful of radio stations still located in Concord, won four awards for programming and news. The network also won a number of awards.  won 12 first place prizes, the most of any television and radio station, according to the NHAB website. 

NHPR won first place awards for Spot News, Documentary News, Newscast, and Feature Story. The station also won a merit award for Documentary News and Local Special Program/Event.

WKXL won both a first place and merit award in the public affairs/talk show category for Your Health Matters and NH Now. The station also won merit awards for Spot News and Sports Feature.

Monitor wins press awards

The took away a number of awards at the New Hampshire Press Association luncheon on Oct. 13 at SNHU. 

The Monitor won first place awards for General Excellence, Best Website, Best Use of Social Media, as well as a number of newspaper story awards.

Victoria Shouldis, a long-time freelancer who recently stopped working for the newspaper after being diagnosed with cancer, was awarded a first place award for Freelance Photo of the Year and second place for Freelance Story of the Year. She was also honored by NHPA with the Freelancer of the Year award.

Concord NH Patch continues voter education initiatives

On Wednesday, Oct. 26, Concord NH Patch continues its voter education initiatives with a at , featuring candidates for city council seats in Ward 1, 2, and 3.

The forum will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 26, in the banquet room. Page Belting will be serving coffee, juice and cookies at the event.

Next week, the series continues, with former Louisiana Gov. participating in the roundtable question and answer discussion at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

Former New Mexico Gov. will be on hand for a 4 p.m. roundtable on Thursday, Nov. 17. 

Both events take place in the upstairs meeting space of The Draft.
