CONCORD, NH — Concord High School will be placed on lockdown Wednesday ... but it will only be a drill.

Tim Herbert, the school's principal, emailed parents on Tuesday about the planned lockdown safety drill. He said the safety and well-being of students were the district’s “top priorities,” and the drills were “crucial to preparing” for emergency situations.

“The purpose of the lockdown drill is to ensure that students and staff are familiar with the procedures in the event of a potential threat,” he said. “Please reassure your child that this is a precautionary measure, and our staff is trained to guide them through the process calmly and efficiently.”

Herbert said parents should let their children know it would be a practice scenario and there was no cause for alarm.

“We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for everyone,” he said.

Herbert did not release the exact time of the drill, only the date.
