Locke’s Promise Celebrates Nonprofit Launch With June 8 Ribbon Cutting

HENNIKER, NH — Locke’s Promise, Inc. will officially celebrate its launch as a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a community ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 8, 2025, during its flagship event, Climb the Peak for MS.

The event is free and open to the public.

Diagnosed in her 10s, Sarah Locke turned her personal journey with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) into a movement, raising more than $50,000 through hiking fundraisers and launching Locke’s Promise in 2023.

“This ribbon cutting isn’t just symbolic—it’s the start of something powerful,” said Locke. “We’re building a community that lifts people up and pushes for progress in MS research and care.”

The organization, founded by MS advocate Sarah Locke, is dedicated to supporting individuals living with multiple sclerosis through awareness, advocacy, and community-centered events. The June 8 celebration marks not only the organization’s formal debut but also the growing momentum of a grassroots effort that began with Locke’s personal journey and passion for empowering others.

The event will feature Locke's personal story, the introduction of the new nonprofit’s board of directors, and the official ribbon cutting. Attendees will also have the opportunity to join the hike up Henniker’s Craney Hill to raise awareness and funds for MS support services.

“Receiving our 501(c)(3) status is more than just a designation—it’s a promise to serve and uplift those battling MS,” she said. “We are honored to celebrate this achievement with our incredible community and look forward to making a difference together.”

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease affecting nearly 1 million people in the United States, with prevalence rates higher in northern states like New Hampshire. The Northeast region reports approximately 377 cases per 100,000 individuals, compared to 277 per 100,000 in the South and West. MS often strikes individuals in their prime working years, leading to significant personal and economic challenges. Women are disproportionately affected, comprising about 74% of MS cases nationwide.
