Los Angeles Guitar Quartet Head to the Audi Oct. 10

Grammy-winning classical ensemble performs as part of the 85th season of the Concord Community Concert Association.

Is the Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet the world’s hottest classical ensemble or its tightest pop band?

Decide for yourself when the group hits the Concord City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 7:30 p.m., opening the 85th season of Concord Community Concert Association.

One of the most multifaceted groups in any genre, the LAGQ features four uniquely accomplished musicians bringing a new energy to the concert stage with programs ranging from Bluegrass to Bach. Their inventive, critically acclaimed transcriptions of concert masterworks provide a fresh look at the music of the past, while their interpretations of works from contemporary and world-music realms continually break new ground. Grammy awards and nominations have followed the quartet to the top spot on Billboard charts. Play guitar? Don’t miss this show!

The quartet includes John Dearman, Matthew Greif, William Kanengiser, and Scott Tennant. Dearman, whose repertoire ranges from samba to classical, enriches the sound of the LAGQ by performing on unique seven-string guitar with extended upper and lower registers.

Greif’s recordings include Permanent Transition with duo improvisations.

Kanengiser is one of the few guitarists to have won the Concert Artists Guild New York Competition.

Tennant is a celebrated performer-author-teacher whose Basic Classical Guitar Method is a worldwide source of music education, along with this best-selling book/video, Pumping Nylon.

Tickets to the concert are $18, available in advance at Gibson’s Bookstore and The UPS Store, both located on South Main Street in Concord, and online at concordcommunityconcerts.org
