Main Street Bookends Endorses #50BY30 Goal

Warner business is 100 percent powered by solar energy.

Yesterday, NextGen Climate New Hampshire released a new video profiling MainStreet BookEnds, an independent bookseller located in Warner that has signed on to the org’s #50by30 goal, according to a press statement.

As the second bookstore in America to be powered by 100 percent solar energy, MainStreet BookEnds’ investment in clean energy has allowed it to thrive - demonstrating the economic benefits of transitioning to clean energy. In the video, founders Neil and Catherine Nevins explain why they are proud to endorse the effort.

“I think the connecting piece in all of this is solar energy,” said Neil Nevins. “Those savings have not only made it possible for us to survive and thrive as a small business, but we’ve also been able to build countless connections within the community as a result.”

In addition to reducing their monthly electricity bills, the Nevins’ solar array shows the benefits of clean energy for the whole town - and has even inspired local officials to begin converting all of Warner’s municipal buildings to run on solar energy.

”This business is an example of the invaluable edge that clean energy independence can give our small business community,” said Mike Padmore, the NextGen Climate New Hampshire state director. “If our leaders are serious about transitioning to 50 percent clean energy by 2030, we can guarantee that many more businesses will realize the same opportunities for savings and success that MainStreet BookEnds has created.”

This video is part of the org’s ongoing ReNew New Hampshire series, profiling Granite State businesses that are embracing the benefits of transitioning to clean energy. NextGen Climate New Hampshire is working with voters across the Granite State to urge candidates and elected officials to lay out a plan to power America with more than 50 percent clean energy by 2030, a goal that will help Granite State businesses—like MainStreet BookEnds - grow and prosper.
