Officers entered the apartment building and heard a woman yelling loudly in the hallway, claiming to have been assaulted. The officer tried to calm the woman down but she was “clearly aggravated” by the situation. The woman stated that Alvarado, her boyfriend, allegedly choked her and took off. A description of Alvarado was taken and officers began to check the area for him.

The officer reported that there were items strewn around the apartment including Christmas ornaments, broken jewelry, and a door on the floor, as if there was a struggle or fight in the apartment.

When the woman calmed down, she began to explain the situation to the reporting officer. According to the woman, she went to another apartment in the building to assist a family member who was having a fight with another man. The family member asked if the man could stay at her apartment because they wanted to be separated and she agreed. The woman came back with the man to her apartment. Alvarado, meanwhile, reportedly was in bed and didn't accompany her to the other apartment. The woman was upset by this, stating that things could have gotten physical. She said ti showed his “true colors.”

Alvarado reportedly left the room, entering the bathroom, but the two continued to argue. The woman asked him to leave and attempted to open a bathroom door, and Alvarado allegedly “grabbed onto the bathroom door and ripped it away from the door frame, then threw it at her.” The door struck the woman and knocked her back.

The fighting continued with Alvarado allegedly grabbing the woman and wrestling her to the ground. The woman said she was unable to fend him off, with Alvarado allegedly putting what felt like all of his weight on top of her back. Alvarado then allegedly tightened his arm, forearm, and bicep against her throat and neck, the report stated, “inhibiting her ability to breathe.” The woman alleged that Alvarado threatened to kill her while choking her.

The officer reportedly saw redness around her neck.

Three other people in the apartment woke up during the melee and interrupted the incident, according to the report, and Alvarado allegedly fled the apartment.

While speaking with the woman, a Sergeant found Alvarado in a third floor stairwell and he was taken into custody.

A witness, a woman, corroborated some of the woman’s allegations, specifically, the choking incident. Two other witnesses, both men, who were crashing in the apartment, reportedly wouldn’t speak to police about the incident.
