Man With Priors Allegedly Bagged with Computer, Dungeon and Dragons Handbook
Concord Police arrest Nathan Bell on Cardinal Road after allegedly stealing items from cars.

A local man will be arraigned in court on Monday on a number of charges, including stealing books and a Trimble Nomad handheld computer valued at $6,500.
Nathan C. Bell, 22, of Loudon Road, was arrested at 1:41 a.m. on Dec. 2, 2014, on criminal trespass and two receiving stolen property counts, one of them a felony.
According to an arrest report, officers were sent to Cardinal Road for a report of a suspicious person on the front lawn of a home.

The first officer arriving at the scene found a man matching the description walking on another property toward two parked cars while carrying a backpack, briefcase, and plastic bag.
“When the male subject saw my cruiser, he stopped walking, placed the suitcase on the ground, and stood still,” the officer alleged.

The officer exited the cruiser and “quickly recognized” that it was Bell from “several prior contacts.” The briefcase was partially open and filled with notebooks and papers. The officer alleged that he “appeared extremely nervous” and began to question Bell about why he was in the area while other officers and a sergeant arrived at the scene.
When asked what he was doing, Bell allegedly replied, “Just out walking,” but reportedly wouldn’t allow the officers to look in the zippered bag or briefcase unless they got permission from his mother.
“When Bell was asked about these items, he became defensive and stated that ‘the police were always out to get him and that we did not have permission to open the yellow zipper pouch without the permission of his mother,’” the officer alleged. “Bell was unable to dispel why he was on the property.”
Bell was taken into custody while police began reaching out to residents to find out if he had permission to be on their properties or if they were missing anything. One property owner claimed not to know Bell and said he had no permission to be on the property. Another person claimed to own the items that Bell allegedly had in the briefcase, which was filled with surveying documents, plans, and other items. The briefcase and the computer were from the man’s unlocked company vehicle, he said.
The backpack, which contained accounting textbooks from NHTI as well as a Dungeon and Dragons handbook, was owned by a resident on Eastern Avenue, police later learned.
Bell is due in court on Jan. 12.
Previously, Bell was arrested in last year on warrants while on Loudon Road. In December 2013, he was arrested for loitering and prowling on Loudon Road. In January 2013, he was arrested on a robbery warrant out of Belknap County. In 2012, he was arrested on numerous charges, including forgery, theft, and stolen property. In 2011, he was arrested on theft and other charges after incidents on Loudon Road.
