Man Shot During Dispute On South State Street In Downtown Concord: Video

Breaking: A man was shot in the leg Saturday during a dispute; cops have South State Street from Thompson to Concord closed to traffic.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police have a block of Downtown Concord closed to traffic after a man was shot by another man on Saturday afternoon.

Just before 1:30 p.m., police dispatch received a call from a witness who was walking with a second person on South State Street between Thompson and Concord Street when they heard two people arguing at a multi-family apartment building and then a single gunshot. Concord fire and rescue teams were then requested to the scene due to a gunshot wound to the leg.

As officers headed to the scene, fire told police they would be staging. A few minutes later, firefighters tended to the victim and transported him to Concord Hospital, with an officer in tow.

The man is expected to survive.

One of the men identified during the investigation was a Massachusetts resident with a pistol carry permit, according to scanner chatter. He declined to speak to police without a lawyer present, according to an officer. A second man was also identified as a Massachusetts resident. Two people at the scene, a man and a woman, were interviewed by police.

Around 2:15 p.m., a second ambulance was requested to transport another man to the hospital with neck and back pain, according to scanner chatter. An officer also went with the second man to the hospital.

As of 4:30 p.m., South State Street from Thompson to Concord Street is closed to traffic waiting for detectives to arrive.
