Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said the attempted murder charge was issued by police due to “multiple rounds” being fired.

“(Daniels) shot the victim multiple times,” he said. “The victim was struck several times. Based on the facts and actions of the alleged suspect, we believe he attempted to kill (the victim).”

Police conducted a “thorough investigation,” interviewing several witnesses before filing the charges, he added.

“We wanted to make sure the charges were correct,” Thomas said.

Daniels was held on preventive detention and is expected to be arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court on Friday.

Thomas praised officers and troopers for doing “a phenomenal job, providing aid to the victim” and keeping him alive before EMS arrived to take him to the hospital.
