CONCORD, NH – New Hampshire Fish and Game Marine Patrol have restarted a search for a missing Vermont teen who disappeared while swimming in Dalton last night.
The boy – who is 15, and from Lunenberg, VT, and is not being named pending family notification – was swimming with his two sisters and three other friends near the Bridge Street bridge when he reportedly struggled in the swift water and disappeared. Another swimmer was also caught by the current but was pulled to safety by a good Samartian, according to Lt. Wayne Saunders of the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

“Upon receiving the call, personnel began pouring in from both New Hampshire and Vermont,” Saunders said in a statement. “Initial responding agencies included the Dalton (NH) Fire Department and Lunenberg (VT) Fire Department, Vermont State Police and Coos County (NH) Sheriff’s Department. Search efforts began immediately with searchers combing the river banks and scouring the water through the use of boats and wading. A quick response was also made by members of the public from Dalton, Lunenberg, and surrounding communities who volunteered to help."
Officials stopped the search at 10:30 p.m. last night and have restarted again this morning with dive teams from both states.
