Masks, Face Coverings Now Required In Some Concord City Buildings

CONCORD, NH — Face coverings or masks are now required in some city of Concord buildings, until further notice, according to officials.

The city issued an alert on Tuesday notifying residents of the new requirement a week after the Concord City Council overwhelmingly rejected a new mask mandate for all businesses and buildings in the city — while also approving a resolution encouraging residents and visitors of the city to mask up.

All members of the public, an alert stated, are required to wear a face-covering over their nose and mouth inside the Concord Public Library. Masks are also required in all city-operated community centers — except when playing a sport, taking part in a fitness class, eating or drinking, or showering. Performers actively performing inside community centers and recreational facilities, like the Audi or the recital stage at the community center on Canterbury Road, may do so without wearing a face covering, according to the alert. Attendees to performances, however, must wear them.

City officials are also requesting people socially distance themselves from others.

“While engaged in an activity that does not require a face covering as identified in these rules, persons outside of the same household are strongly encouraged to remain three feet apart from others to the greatest extent possible,” the alert stated.

The mask mandate for recreation buildings and the city library applies to all people 6-years of age or older regardless of vaccination status, according to officials.
