McCollum Named Principal of Rundlett Middle School
Interim principal hired last year will stay on in the position, according to Concord Superintendent Terri Forsten.

CONCORD, NH — Rundlett Middle School interim principal Jim McCollum will stay on after being selected out of three candidates vying for the open position, according to Terri Forsten, the Concord School District superintendent of schools. The Concord School Board voted on March 8, 2017, to confirm the recommendation of a search committee for the open position, which was made up of teachers, support staff, a parent, administrators, and a school board member, according to a press statement.
The search committee reviewed resumes and interviewed three “strong candidates” for the position before deciding on McCollum.
“Mr. McCollum has worked as a principal for middle and high schools for over 13 years in several communities in New Hampshire,” she stated. “He is excited about the work we are doing in development of our academic programs and in our work to support academic excellence.”

Forsten noted that McCollum had been “impressed by our performing arts in drama and music and has “really enjoyed getting to know our middle school students and families,” according to the statement.
McCollum came to the district in July 2016 as an interim principal to take over for Tom Sica, who moved to Concord High School after Gene Connolly retired. During his time at the school, she stated, “he connected positively with our middle school and our community,” and decided to apply for the position when it was posted in December.

Previously, McCollum had been leading Laconia High School and was also a middle school principal. He also worked as the principal of the Newfound Memorial Middle School and was a program director at Mt. Washington Academy for more than six years. McCollum was also an athletic director and dean of students at an alternative education program in West Palm Beach, FL.
“Mr. McCollum is pleased to see the level of parent support and participation in our schools,” she added. “We are very excited to welcome Mr. McCollum to the position of principal at Rundlett Middle School.”
