Meet New Hampshire’s only Nutritional Pharmacist

“Are you sick and tired of being sick and tired?” Marty didn’t just make up that slogan. It came from decades of working with those who are just like that: sick and tired of being sick and tired.

A three-in-one practitioner, Marty Donovan fills a need in the Concord community. His combined 45 years as a pharmacist and 21 years as a clinical nutritionist and herbalist give him a unique ability to help those struggling with their health. In fact, it makes him one of a kind. He’s the only person in the state with those qualifications as a Nutritional Pharmacist. But he didn’t start this journey trying to be unique. Every day he had one consistent goal: using his knowledge, products, and services to better the health of our community.

From Pharmacy to Nutrition & Wellness

Marty started in 1982 as the owner and practicing pharmacist of The Medicine Shoppe. He loved being a community pharmacist. But in the 90s when patients started asking about mixing natural supplements with prescription drugs, he felt like he couldn’t help. He wasn’t trained for that. In fact, no pharmacist was trained for that unless they sought additional education. So, wanting to continue providing exceptional service, that’s exactly what he did.

From Prescriptions to Preventions

Marty was committed to helping his customers manage their health problems and symptoms. He began rigorous training in natural medicine and herbology, and he earned diplomas in both Clinical Nutrition (DCN) and Herbology (Dip. Herb). Throughout his training, he learned different approaches to health and saw a public health need: better education, resources, and safe avenues regarding nutrition for the community. Diet-related and lifestyle-related diseases were the leading causes of death, and he wanted to address prevention, not just symptom management with prescriptions.

From Pharmaceutical Counseling to Personalized Nutrition & Wellness Counseling

In 2001, the Natural Wellness Corner was born, and Marty began serving Concord with his unmatched knowledge of holistic care and nutrition therapy. Marty works with clients to correct their underlying medical conditions through consults, high-quality nutritional supplements, diet, exercise, and lifestyles. By moving beyond disease maintenance, he helps them address the fundamental imbalances that prevent their health and wellness.

While Marty closed the Medicine Store Pharmacy in 2019, he continues to help those in need through the Natural Wellness Corner. He’s expanded his offerings, hired a nutritionist who specializes in mental health, and collaborates with practitioners across the country. He sees clients by appointment to help them get their health back on track and relieve their symptoms. He also values sharing his knowledge, and offers complimentary guidance to everyone who walks in our door.
