Mega Millions Jackpot to Hit $390 Million

The one-time cash payout option for the June 28, drawing, if you win, will be more than $265 million, according to NH lottery officials.

CONCORD, NH – The jackpot for Mega Millions on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, is expected to reach $390 million, according to New Hampshire Lottery officials.

The contest – which is drawn at 11 p.m. on Tuesday and Fridays – hasn’t had a jackpot winner since early March and has been building during that time.

“With the holiday weekend coming up, I cannot think of a better way to celebrate the Fourth of the July than with a big New Hampshire Mega Millions winner,” said Charlie McIntyre, executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery Commission, in a statement. “Get your tickets now.”

If you win – not completely impossible, even though the odds are 258.9 million to 1 – the one-time cash payout option is estimated to be more than $265 million.

Tickets are $1 to play and 26 percent of all proceeds goes to New Hampshire schools (another 62 percent goes to prize winners). Since the lottery’s creation in 1964, $1.7 billion has been earmarked to fund education in the state.
