Michigan Man Arrested After I-89 Crash

NHSP: Two were sent to Concord Hospital after a crash in Hopkinton this morning.

HOPKINTON, NH — Two people were sent to the hospital after a crash this morning in Hopkinton on I-89. One man – Safwan Talal Eid, 25, of Saginaw, MI – was arrested and charged with reckless operation on July 3, 2017, after the crash, according to New Hampshire State Police. Troopers were called to Mile Marker 12.8 in Hopkinton at around 7:30 a.m. this morning for a report of a crash.

When they arrived, they reportedly found that a white 2017 Mazda CX7 struck a black 2003 Dodge Durango. The Durango left the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to state police.

“Two persons from the Dodge were seriously injured,” according to Staff Sgt. Charles Johnston of Troop D. “They were transported to Concord Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.”

The investigation revealed the driver of the Mazda, Talal Eid, was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed and was arrested. He’s due in court on Sept. 1.
