According to the New Hampshire State Police, the Troop F dispatch center received reports of a 2002 Ford Explorer “weaving in and out of traffic and cutting motorists off,” while driving south on I-93 in Thornton.
About a minute after the report, the vehicle struck a state police cruiser while the state trooper sergeant was conducting a motor vehicle stop. The sergeant was sitting in his vehicle at the time of the crash. The Explorer reportedly skidded off to the right side of the road and into the tree line.
