It is said you become a survivor the day you are told of your diagnosis.
For me that day is August 1, 2013. The first words we heard where; "This is not going to be an easy conversation."
That day is burnt into my mind so well I can remember the smell of the room, the set up. How the books on the shelf sat there unopened, probably for years given the dust. The room had tissues everywhere but only one trash can aka throw-up bucket. Yet ask me something about this week and I have no clue, go figure.
It is hard to believe how much time has passed, and how much my life has changed. Cancer doesn't leave you the way it finds you...but what it does leave... is up to you.
Too all my brothers and sisters out there fighting, surviving, and those we remember the warriors who fell in the battle. Today is your day to remind yourself and me, we are survivors not victims.
