Nearly 1,400 Concord Unitil Customers Without Power

Breaking: Unknown reason for outages; Concord fire and rescue teams sent to electrical odor and smoking equipment calls on the Heights.

CONCORD, NH — About 1,400 Unitil customers in and around Concord are without power on Thursday, according to outage reports online.

The company reported around 11 a.m. on Twitter that 250 customers were without power. That quickly grew to 1,373 as of noon. Outages were also reported in Chichester and Loudon. Most of Concord's outages were reported in the eastern part of the city including the Heights.

The outage represents about 1.3 percent of New Hampshire customers.

The company said it expects to have power restored by 3:30 p.m.

One possible reason for the outage could be a phase power distribution issue which often causes mechanical devices, motors, and other items along the grid to overheat.

Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to three electrical odor or smoking equipment calls on Loudon Road between 10:45 and 11 a.m., all in the largest area of the outage.
