Power Restored After Tree Limb Damages Utility Pole

A small brush fire extinguished on Mountain Road on Sept. 14.

Update, 7:40 p.m. Unitil is reporting that power has been restored to Concord and Loudon after a tree branch struck a utility pole earlier today.

Update, 6:46 p.m. Unitil crews are at the scene repairing a power line right across the street from the governor’s mansion.

The brushfire was relatively small and Concord Fire and Rescue teams quickly extinguished it. The road is open to traffic but is down to a single lane.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud bang before the fire started. One resident reported that a tree or branch fell from a wooded area near the old Eastman Elementary School before the bang. Unitil confirmed on Twitter that a limb had struck and damaged some of the electrical equipment.

About 1,000 Concord and Loudon Unitil customers are without power due to an outage in the eastern part of the city on Sept. 14, 2015. 

The outage is due to powerlines that are down due to a brush fire reported in the area of Mountain Road. Concord Police currently have the area closed to traffic.

According to its online outage map, restoration time is sometime between 7:15 and 9:15 p.m. tonight. Crews are heading to the area now, according to Unitil’s Twitter account.
