Nearly $8,000 Raised For Capital Region Food Program At Concord Event

Hundreds attend the annual Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Business After Hours at the Grappone Conference Center.

CONCORD, NH — Hundreds of business leaders, owners, employees, and others helped raise more than $7,500 on Tuesday night to feed those less fortunate in the Concord area.

The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Business After Hours event, a holiday favorite for many, was held at the Grappone Conference Center. Each year, the Chamber collects donations for the Capital Region Food Program in lieu of the regular Business After Hours fee. The conference center donates the facility and food.

After coronavirus, the donations switched from food collection to direct contributions. About $7,200 was raised via a GoFundMe link; hundreds more in cash and checks were received at the door, according to Madi Hendrick, the manager of member engagement for the Chamber.

During the past five decades, the program has distributed millions of dollars of food to thousands of families.

Last year, the organization switched from direct food donations to food vouchers for the holiday project. Dozens of agencies and organizations in the region receive food donations every month.
