A detective went to meet with the woman at Concord Hospital and the victim reported meeting Semuhungu in mid-April through a mutual friend while working out. They exchanged phone numbers and What’s App contacts, and she reportedly invited him to attend church with her.

The detective began looking into Semuhungu’s background confirming where he lived and collecting information from his three Facebook accounts. According to a detective’s report, the investigator reached out to the property management company on Branch Turnpike and found out that the apartment agreement was with Ascentia Care, formerly Lutheran Social Services, which specializes in renting residents to new African Americans, and that Semuhungu had two roommates.

The next day, detectives met with the victim at police headquarters to discuss the incidents.

On May 4, he reportedly texted her saying that he needed to see her so after church, she went to meet with him at his apartment. There, Semuhungu allegedly began to make sexual advances that she rebuked, according to the report, saying she was saving herself for marriage. He allegedly “did not listen to her,” carried her into one of the apartment’s bedrooms, according to the report. She repeatedly told him to stop as he allegedly reached under her shirt, into her pants, and also demanded that she touch him, according to the report.

At one point, she was able to get off the bed but Semuhungu allegedly blocked her from the doorway so she couldn’t leave. She was able to escape the bedroom but he allegedly grabbed her again, attempting to stop her, but she got away.

The next day, according to the detective’s report, he allegedly texted her “am so sorry bout yesterday … shouldn’t had been that way … i mean am sorry.”

The victim went to church and a follow-up church meeting and believed that it was important to forgive people and show mercy, she told the detectives. So she texted Semuhungu on May 7, and asked to come over to speak with him, and when he agree, she brought her Bible and planned on washing his feet, she stated.

Semuhungu, however, allegedly began to make sexual advances again, grabbing her on a couch and undressing her, according to the court affidavit. She stated that he had food cooking on the stove and tried to distract him by saying he needed to shut if off before it burned so she could flee but Semuhungu allegedly grabbed her and carried her into the kitchen to turn off the stove so she couldn’t get away. He then allegedly carried her into the bedroom.

While he was allegedly attempting to rape her, the victim looked for something to hit Semuhungu with. She found a can of deodorant and sprayed him with it in the face which stopped him for a moment, the report alleged. She went to leave and while bending over to grab her clothes off the floor, he allegedly came up behind her and began raping her, according to the affidavit.

During the alleged attack, another person came into the apartment and then left but she didn’t see the person. She was able to leave not long after that, she stated.

The victim later texted Semuhungu: “To let you know what you just did. Hear (sic) in America is called RAPE what you just did. Forcing yourself on another person to have sex when they verbally and physically tell you No. When they have to take a spray and spray you to protect themselves/myself shows and says a lot that you have cross a line and boundaries.”

Semuhungu, according to the report, requested a phone call and continued to text the victim for two days but she didn’t reply.

On May 9, the detective requested a one-party intercept approval from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office to record a conversation between the victim and Semuhungu for May 10, according to the affidavit. On that date, the victim met with detectives, she texted Semuhungu, and agreed to speak with him on the phone.

“During the approximately 30-minute long conversation, Willy apologized repeatedly for what he did,” the detective alleged. “Willy admitted that he had had sex with (the victim) against her will. Willy also said that he had unwanted sex with (the victim) and he was sorry for that and said that it would not happen again.”

Semuhungu reportedly asked for forgiveness and she noted that he had allegedly raped her twice.

“Willy asked for a third chance,” according to the report. “He confirmed other specifics and details about the incidents that (the victim) had told us to include that someone had walked into the room when he was having sex with (the victim).”

A warrant was issued against Semuhungu and detectives requested a search warrant of his physical body. After searching his body, he was arrested and held on $20,000 cash bail.
